De NOBLE  William R., 83, a life long resident of Jersey City, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at his residence. 

William was a retired supervisor for the Hudson County Parks Department.  William was also a former commissioner of the Jersey City Parking Authority.

William was a candidate for mayor of Jersey City in 1981 and city councilman-at-large on the City Council in 1965.  He was a long time member of the Democratic Committee in the Marion Section of Jersey City, and was dedicated to the betterment of the city. William was a labor leader and consultant to two Congressman and one Assemblyman.

He was president of the Holy Name Society of Hudson County and of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Jersey City. 

William was also a union organizer, hiring boss and vice president of the American Federation of Labor and the International Longshoreman's Association. 

"William was extremely proud of his association with the waterfront and the International Longshoreman's Association.  Jersey City lost one of its greatest citizens," said his son Alexander.   

William was founder and standard bearer of the William De Noble Association which produced many charitable events for mentally and cognitively disabled people for over 40 years. 

William served as superintendent of bridges in Hudson County and was assistant superintendent of the Hudson County Mosquito Commission.  William held various positions in the Operating Engineers Union. 

William served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. 

William was also an avid New York Yankee fan.   

Beloved husband of the late Theresa (nee Marino), devoted father of Alexander "Sandy" & wife Kathleen & the late William De Noble Jr., loving grandfather of Toni Ann De Noble & Jennifer Mineo, dear brother of Vincent “Jimmy” De Noble & Rita Goscinski. 

Funeral from RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME, 3205 Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 9:30 AM.  Funeral mass Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City, at 10:30 AM.  Internment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  Visiting Thursday 7-9 PM & Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
